IA Dr. Dirk De Ridder

With great sadness the FIDE Arbiters' Commission was informed that IA Dr. Dirk De Ridder passed away on 7 January 2018.

The Commission expresses its sincere condolences to his family and to the Belgian Chess Federation

Dirk was a well known International Arbiter, International Organizer and FIDE Lecturer.

He was very enthusiastic and dedicated to chess for more than 30 years, having organized many tournaments and conducted many Arbiters' Seminars.

For many years he was Secretary of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission and Councilor of the FIDE Rules, Qualification and Technical Commissions.

His contribution to the Chess community was very important.

Rest in Peace Dirk!

2018 Arbiters’ Manual

The 2018 Arbiters' Manual has been published on the FIDE Arbiters' Commission website.

You can find it in the link: Arbiters' Manual.

The new edition of the Arbiters' Manual includes all the important changes of the Laws of Chess that have been approved in the 2017 FIDE Congress, in Antalya, Turkey.

It includes also the rewritten section of the FIDE Swiss Rules, as well as new interpretations and clarifications of Laws of Chess and Competition Rules.

The 2018 Arbiters' Manual will be printed in books and will be available on sale, in the price of five (5) euro for each book (275 pages).

Federations wishing to have books of the 2018 Arbiters' Manual must send their orders to the FIDE Secretariat and to the FIDE Arbiters' Commission. They will be charged with the shipping cost as well.
