Recordings of the Lectures for the Anti cheating Regulations and Guidelines for Arbiters

Dear friends,

the FIDE Arbiters' Commission makes available for everybody registered with FIDE the recordings of the Lectures for the Anti cheating Regulations and Guidelines for Arbiters.

The recordings are available in FIDE Arbiters' Seminars web site (a separated website that has been created within FIDE website, specially for the FIDE Arbiters' Seminars, Refreshing Courses, Lectures and Workshops) and can be found in : http://arbiters.seminars.fide.com
For full access to the recordings you will need to take a minute to create a new account for yourself. Follow these steps:
· Follow the link http://arbiters.seminars.fide.com
· When you click on the course you would like to register in, you will be prompted to create an account you can use (if you don't have one already).
· Click on the button "Create new account"
· Fill out all the mandatory fields marked with * and click on the "Create my new account" button (You have to use real name and correct email address)
· An email will be sent to your email address (the one you have provided in the registration) as soon as your registration will be approved (This will may take several hours, so please be patient!).
· After that, you will be able to log in and "enrol" yourself to the course.

Recordings for Anti Cheating are available in English, Russian, Spanish and Arabic language.

LIST OF NOMINEES

The FIDE Arbiters' Commission has the pleasure to announce the nominees of the 2016 Arbiters' Awards.
The requirements for the Arbiters to be awarded were:
(a). to have obtained the IA title before 1981 (35 years of service as an IA)
(b). to have worked as an Arbiter in at least three (3) FIDE Major Events (Olympiads, World Championships).

The Arbiters to be awarded are (in alphabetical order):

-DREPANIOTIS, Panagiotis (GREECE) (IA title awarded in 1980)
-GASANOV, Faik (AZERBAIJAN) (IA title awarded in 1980)
-GIJSSEN, Geurt (NETHERLAND) (IA title awarded in 1979)
-KAMESWARAN, V. (INDIA) (IA title awarded in 1980)
-LOBANOV, Yuri (RUSSIA) (IA title awarded in 1979)
-MELIKSTET-BEK, Evgeny (GEORGIA) (IA title awarded in 1979)
-VEGA, Jorge (GUATEMALA) (IA title awarded in 1979)
-WELCH, David (ENGLAND) (IA title awarded in 1977)
-ZHARIC, Borivoje (SERBIA) (IA title awarded in 1970)

The Awards Ceremony will take place during the General Assembly of the 2016 Baku FIDE Congress and the awarded Arbiters, or their representatives, are kindly requested to be present, in order to receive their awards.

The Spanish Chess Federation hosted the annual Councilors' Meeting of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission.
The meeting was held in the Meeting Hall of the Abba Hotel in Madrid.

LECTURES ON INTERNET about Anti cheating regulations and guidelines for Arbiters

The FIDE Arbiters' Commission, in cooperation with the FIDE Anti Cheating Committee, organized four (4) lectures on Internet, in English, Russian, Spanish and Arabic languages, in order to present the Anti cheating regulations and the Anti cheating guidelines for Arbiters that are in effect from 1 January 2014.

The participation was free for all Arbiters.

The lecture in English was held in 23 February and the Lecturers were IA Takis Nikolopoulos (GRE), Chairman of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission and IO Yuri Garrett (ITA), Secretary of the FIDE Anti Cheating Committee. The Technical Organizer was IA Mihail Prevenios (GRE).

In total seventy five (75) Arbiters from sixty five (65) Federations participated in the lecture. Thirty five (35) of them attended the lecture live, while forty (40) more followed the recordings of the lecture.

Additionally a forum had been created to answer possible questions from participants, which was followed by fifty seven (57) of the Arbiters who participated in the lecture (live or through recordings).

The lecture in Russian was held in 25 March and the Lecturers were IA Ashot Vardapetyan (ARM), Chairman of the FIDE Rules Commission and GM, FST Konstantin Landa (RUS), Member of the FIDE Anti Cheating Committee. IA Mihail Prevenios (GRE) was the Technical Organizer of the Lecture.

In total, twenty eight (28) Arbiters from nine (9) federations took part in the Lecture.

The lecture in Spanish was held in 19 April and the Lecturer was IA Jesus Mena (ESP), Councilor of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission. IA Mihail Prevenios (GRE) was the Technical Organizer of the Lecture.

In total, twenty four (24) Arbiters from eight (8) federations took part in the Lecture.

The lecture in Arabic was held in 4 June and the Lecturer was IA Mahdi Abdulrahim (UAE), Councilor of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission. IA Mihail Prevenios (GRE) was the Technical Organizer of the Lecture.

In total, sixty eight (68) Arbiters from twenty (20) federations took part in the Lecture.

The participants of all Lectures showed high interest and were very active during the discussions.

Due to the extremely high number of applicants, it was decided the lectures to be recorded and those Arbiters, who could not had the chance to attend them live, to get the possibility to follow the recordings of the lecture. The recordings are available to any Arbiter per request to the FIDE Arbiters' Commission.

As the issue of Anti cheating is considered very important and the training of the Arbiters of high priority, the FIDE Arbiters' Commission, in cooperation with the FIDE Anti cheating Committee, will continue organizing on Internet Anti cheating lectures for Arbiters in official FIDE languages, covering any updates will come in effect after 2016 Baku FIDE Congress on anti cheating issues.

IA Stephane Escafre elected President of the French Chess Federation
