FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Benoni, South Africa (January 2020) - Report

benoni january2020 pic01From 5th to 8th January 2020, a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Benoni, South Africa, by the South Africa Chess Federation, under the auspices of FIDE.
The Lecturer was IA van den Bergh, Gunther (RSA), FIDE Lecturer.
The language of the Seminar was English.
Eighteen (18) arbiters from South Africa participated in the Seminar and all of them participated in the examination test, held after the end of the lectures.

FIDE ARBITERS' SEMINAR in Lome (Togo) - January 2020

seminar logoA FIDE Arbiters' Seminar is going to be organized from 27/01/2020 to 30/01/2020 in Lome, Togo, by the Togo Chess Federation, under the
auspices of FIDE.
The venue of the Seminar will be the Agla Hotel, Lome.
The Lecturer will be IA/IO Messaoudi, Bechir (TUN), FIDE Lecturer and the Assistant Lecturer will be IA Fumey, Enyonam Sewa (TOG).
The language of the Seminar will be French with translation into English.
The Seminar will give norms and titles of FIDE Arbiter, according to the Regulations for the titles of Arbiters.

Call of interest for arbiters at the 44th Chess Olympiad 2020 - 4 days left

logo fide150The 44th Chess Olympiad will take place from the 5th to the 18th of August 2020 in Moscow, Russia.

The FIDE Arbiter Commission is repeating a call of interest to licensed arbiters (FIDE Arbiter or International Arbiter) who wish to be part of the arbiter team during the Olympiad.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the following elements :
- your chess arbiter resume
- the list of languages that you can speak and your level of proficiency
- which role you would prefer in the team

So far, we got applications from 225 arbiters representing 88 federations (more than 50% of the 171 federations having at least 1 IA or FA).

seminar logoFrom 16th to 22nd December 2019, a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Thessaloniki, Greece, by the A.M.O. “O Galaxias”, Sykeon Neapolis Chess Academy and Greece Chess Federation, under the auspices of FIDE.
The Lecturer was IA Tsorbatzoglou, Viron (GRE), FIDE Lecturer and the Assistant Lecturer was IA Gerontopoulos, Prodromos (GRE).
The language of the Seminar was English.
Three (3) arbiters from Greece participated in the Seminar and all of them participated in the examination test, held after the end of the lectures.

FIDE ARB End of the Year recap - Day 7

Our website is a main point of contact to the public, and we reactivated our Facebook page @FIDEARB in the last quarter of the year to be in touch with a wider audience.
This daily recap is somehow more intensive than the usual pace of publishing, however, almost 150 news were published in the year and the Monday evening update of arbiters' list is a ritual part of our online life too!
We would like to thank the arbiters who share their contributions on the dedicated page: local language translation of the manual, support for lectures, explanations on specific topics, tools ...
In 2020, we intend to be more interactive online with you, and continue to reinforce the skills of our arbiters worldwide!
