FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 2026

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 23/07/2026 to 26/07/2026 in Addis Ababa, by the Ethiopia Chess Federation, under the auspices of FIDE.
The Lecturer will be IA Dervieux, Dominique (FRA), FIDE Lecturer, and Local Assistant Lecturer will be IA Nugusse, Dejen Zelalem (ETH).
The language of the Seminar will be English with translation in French.
The Seminar will give norms and titles of FIDE Arbiter, according to the Regulations for the titles of Arbiters.

23th July
9:00 – 13:00: Laws of chess – part 1 (4 hours)
15:00 – 18:00: Laws of chess – part 2 (R&B) (3 hours),
18:00 – 19:00:Tournament Regulations (1 hour)
21:00 – 22:00: Chess terms in English (0.5 hour, French) / Exercices (0,5 hour, English)
22:00 – 23:00: Practical cases (1 hour)
24th July
9:00 – 11:00: FIDE Rating and titles regulations for Players (2 hours),
11:00 – 13:00: Arbiter’s Titles (2 hours)
21:00 – 22:00: Electronic chess clocks (1 hour)
25th July
9:00 – 11:00: System of games and tie-breaks (2 hours),
11:00 – 13:00: Swiss system and pairing rules (2 hours)
21:00 – 23:00: Anti-Cheating guidelines (2 hours)
26th July
9:00 – 13:00: Exam
