26th IA Seminar – Report
The 26th Internet Based International Arbiter Certification Seminars were held in Batumi from 22nd to 26th June 2026. It was organized by Georgian Chess Federation and Arbiters’ Commission, under the auspices of FIDE. The seminar was held in parallel with the World Cup for boys and girls under 8-12 years.
The Lecturer of the Seminar was the FIDE Lecturer IA/IO Vardapetyan, Ashot (ARM) FIDE Lecturer, and the assistant lecturer was IA Gopakumar M S (IND), FIDE Lecturer. The Language of the Seminar was in English.
The seminar proceeded 5 days (16 hours). The program of seminar included the following issues: a) Laws Changes, 1.5 hours; b) Practical Applications of the Laws (case study) (2 hours) c) Arbiter Regulations (0.5 hour); d) Running Chess Events (including Duties of the Chief Arbiter) (2 hour); e) Practical Applications of the Laws (1 hour); f) Pairing Exercises (case study) (1 hour); g) English term (0.5 hour); h) Player Title Regulations (case study) (1.5 hour); i) Fair Play (Case Studies and precautions) (1 hour); j) Technical Items (inc. tie breaks) (1 hour).
Six (6) arbiters from two (2) federations (ARM and GEO) participated in the Seminar, and all of them participated in the evaluation test that was held after the end of the lectures.
The following succeeded in the test and they will be awarded a norm for the title of the International Arbiter, after the approval of the next FIDE Council:
