Anantharam Rathinam

Rathinam Anantharam is a retired professor of Chemistry. He has served as chief arbiter for 6 world championships, one Woman Grand Prix, 13 Asian championships, 14 grandmaster tournaments (including Tata Steel India 2018) and 29 national championships. He has served as Sector arbiter for three Olympiads, deputy chief arbiter/arbiter in about 250 international, national and rated tournaments. He is the first A grade arbiter from India.

As a FIDE lecturer, he has conducted about 30 seminars and refresher courses for FIDE and national arbiters.

As an organizer and Secretary of Sivakasi Chess Club, he has conducted Asian Junior championship in 1979, three national championships and 37 state championships.

As a chemistry scholar, he has published six articles in international journals.

As a basketball player, he represented the University in 1969. Served as a commentator for basketball, badminton and hockey live games on TV and radio.
