Omar Salama

Omar Salama is a member of the board of directors of the Icelandic Chess Federation 2014-2019 and Vice president 2017-2019. He has been the Vice president of the Icelandic Chess Federation. He is the chairman of the arbiters Committee of the Icelandic Chess Federation from 2012 to 2019.

The only Nordic FIDE Lecturer who conducted FIDE Arbiters Seminars in various countries among them Iceland, Liberia, Uganda, Sweden and Tunisia.

Among his tournaments that he was Chief arbiter is the European Team Chess Championships 2015 and 2019. African Individual Chess Championship 2016 and several Nordic Championships.

He has been Deputy Chief Arbiter in several continental tournaments in Europe and Africa as well at the last chess Olympiad in Batumi 2018.

He has been the Chief Arbiter of the famous Reykjavik Open from 2015 to 2018. Among other tournaments that he participated as an arbiter is the world chess Olympiads: 2012, 2014,2016, 2018, the Qatar Masters 2015 and the World Rapid and Blitz in Saudi Arabia in 2017.

Omar is the chairman of the Icelandic Trainers Commission since 2020.

He has been a member of the FIDE Arbiters Commission since 2014. Omar is a FIDE Trainer and International Organizer. Omar newly has started his own company which operates in the tourism sector.
