ARB Webinar on the selection of Arbiters in FIDE Events

This 3rd webinar by the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission will focus on the selection of arbiters in FIDE Tournaments.

Following a request by the FIDE Council to explain the criteria for the selection of arbiters, Laurent Freyd, FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Chairman, and Nebojsa Baralic, FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Secretary, will try to give you a global overview on the topic “selections”:

  • An analysis of the current regulations and practices
  • A case study about the recent call of interest for the Chess Olympiad
  • This will also be an opportunity to share a status on the transition to a more structured way of handling selections

89th Internet Based FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar (Colombia)
The 89th Internet based FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 30/10/2020 to 07/11/2020 by the Colombia Chess Federation (FECODAZ) and Arbiters Commission FECODAZ, under the auspices of FIDE.
The Lecturer will be IA/IO Hermida, Marcelo Mariano (ARG), FIDE Lecturer and the Assistant Lecturer will be IA Calle, Jose Jesus (COL).
The language of the Seminar will be Spanish.
The Seminar will give norms and titles of FIDE Arbiter, according to the Regulations for the titles of Arbiters.

1st Session – Friday, 30 October, 18:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs: Laws of Chess
2nd Session – Saturday, 31 October, 18:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs: Laws of Chess
3rd Session – Sunday, 1 November, 9:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs: Types of Tournaments/ Tie Breaks/ Pairing
4th Session – Monday, 2 November, 9:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs: Pairing / Rating
5th Session – Friday, 6 November, 18:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs: Pairing / Rating / Titles
6th Session Saturday, 7 November, 18:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs: Arbiter Titles/ Anticheating / Clocks
Evaluation Sunday, 8 November, 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs: Exam
