FIDE Arbiters Commission Holds In-Person Meeting at Fujairah Chess and Culture Club
The FIDE Arbiters Commission held its in-person ARB Meeting at the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club headquarters in Fujairah, UAE, from August 29th to September 1st, 2025. The ARB Meeting underscored Fujairah’s growing reputation as a hub for international chess events and its commitment to supporting the global chess community.
The meeting was attended by members of the ARB Commission, including Chairman Ivan Syrovy, Secretary Nebojsa Baralic, Councilors Mahdi Abdulrahim, Han Yajun, and Chanda Nsakanya. Also in attendance was Sava Stoisavljevic, FIDE Chief Operating Officer and member of the FIDE Management Board. During the meeting, the team reviewed a range of key activities, including:
- Arbiters’ Commission (ARB) Activity Report 2025 statistics
- Cooperation with the FIDE Fair Play Commission (FPL)
- Evaluation of Arbiters and preparation for 2026-2027
- Appointment of arbiters for World events
- World Events: Cooperation with the Organizers of FIDE events, FIDE Global Strategy Commission (GSC), and FIDE Events Commission (EVE)
- Education, such as refresher courses and seminars
- Changes in regulations (B06.1)
- Information about cases of ARB Disciplinary Subcommittee (DSC)
- Updates to the Arbiters Manual 2026
- Miscellaneous items
The Fujairah Chess and Culture Club’s board of directors, led by Dr. Abdullah Al-Barakat, warmly welcomed the FIDE Arbiters Commission delegation. The welcome ceremony was also attended by Vice President Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Zaabi and other council members, underscoring the club’s enthusiasm for hosting international chess events.
