Monastir Workshop for the training of the International Arbiters

From 20 to 22 June 2014 a Workshop for the training of the International Arbiters was organized in Monastir, Tunisia, by the Tunisian Chess Federation, in cooperation with the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission and under the auspices of FIDE. 

The venue of the Workshop was the Monastir Center Hotel (4*) in Monastir, where the participants were accommodated. 

The lecturers were IA, IO & FIDE Lecturer Dirk DE RIDDER (BEL), secretary of the Fide Arbiters’ Commission and IA, FM & FIDE Lecturer Stephen BOYD (FRA). The Coordinator of the Workshop was IA, IO & FI Béchir MESSAOUDI (TUN).

The lectures were in the French language. 

The subjects that were discussed during the lectures included the changes of the Laws of Chess that will be in effect from 1 July 2014, the changes in the titles and ratings regulations that are in effect from 1 July 2013 and those that will be in effect from 1 July 2014, the regulations for the titles of Arbiters & Players, the regulations for the Dutch Swiss system , Swiss Manager & Chess base, the cheating in Chess and Anti cheating guidelines for the Arbiters and incidents that happened during the games and the Arbiter’s decisions. 

Eighteen (18) International Arbiters from eight (4) Federations (Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia participated in the Workshop. All participants were satisfied by the training and the Seminar and obtained certificates, bags, books and pens.
