Guayaquil Workshop

for the training of International Arbiters

From 6 to 8 June 2014 a Workshop for the training of the International Arbiters was organized in Guayaquil, Ecuador, by the Ecuador Chess Federation, in cooperation with the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission and under the auspices of FIDE. 

The venue of the Workshop was the Grand Hotel Guayaquil (5*) in Guayaquil, where the participants were accommodated.

The lecturers were IA Serafin Chuit (CUB), FIDE Lecturer and IA Jesus Mena (ESP), FIDE Lecturer.

The lectures were in Spanish language.

The subjects that were discussed during the lectures included the changes of the Laws of Chess that will be in effect from 1 July 2014, the changes in the titles and ratings regulations that are in effect from 1 July 2013 and those that will be in effect from 1 July 2014, the regulations for the titles of Arbiters, the regulations for the Dutch Swiss system, the cheating in Chess and Anti cheating guidelines for the Arbiters and incidents that happened during the games and the Arbiter’s decisions.

Twelve (12) International Arbiters from eight (8) Federations (Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico, Venezuela, Honduras, Colombia and El Salvador) participated in the Workshop
