International Arbiter Workshop in Trieste, Italy – REPORT

workshop trieste september2019 pic01An International Arbiters’ Workshop was held from 3 to 4 September 2019 in Trieste, Italy.
The Organizers were the ECU Arbiters’ Council and the Italian Chess Federation’s Arbiters’ Commission, in cooperation with Sst1904.
The venue was the Ippodromo di Montebello and the meeting hall of the Milano Hotel, in Trieste.
Eighteen (18) International Arbiters (7 women and 11 Men and among them 5 IA A’ Cat., 2 IA B’ Cat., 4 IA C’ Cat. and IA D’ Cat.) from twelve (12) Federations (AZE, BEL, BLR, CAN, ENG, GEO, GRE, ITA, POL, SLO, SRB and UKR) participated in the Workshop.

The Lecturer was IA Panagiotis Nikolopoulos (GRE), FIDE Lecturer.
The language of the Seminar was English.

The subjects that were discussed were:
(a). The Laws of Chess that are in effect from 1 January 2018, with emphasis to the new illegal moves and the new Rapid and Blitz rules.
(b). The new General Regulations for Competitions, approved in 2018 FIDE General Assembly.
(c). The FIDE Anti cheating Guidelines.
