Skokie, Illinois, USA workshop

Dear friends,

FIDE, the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission and the Chess IQ Academy and Chess Center announce the workshop for the training of the International Arbiters in English language.

The workshop will be organized in Skokie (close to Chicago), Illinois, USA, from 30 May 2014 (arrival) to 1 June 2014 (departure).

The venue will be the Chess IQ Academy & Chess Center, located at 5500 W Touhy Ave Suite A Skokie, IL 60077 (www.chessiq.com),

The accommodation of the participants will be provided in the Holiday Inn Hotel, located at 5300 W Touhy Ave Skokie, IL 60077 (www.hiskokie.com).

The schedule of the workshop will be as follows:

Saturday, 31 May:  10.00 -14.00: Laws of Chess

16.00- 20.00: Titles, Ratings and Swiss pairings regulations

Sunday, 1 June :     10.00 -14.00: Incidents happened in tournaments

The Lecturers will be: IA Sevan Muradian (USA), FIDE Lecturer and IA Hal Bond (CAN), FIDE Lecturer.

The maximum number of the participants will be 25.

The final list of the participants will be approved by the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission.

The priority for the participation in the workshop will be as follows:

  1. Lecturers
  2. IAs of A’ Category
  3. IAs of B’ Category
  4. IAs of C’ Category
  5. IAs of D’ Category

FIDE will reimburse twenty (maximum) of the participants with up to 300 euros each, for covering their expenses, based on receipts.

The International Arbiters who want to participate in the workshop are kindly requested to register their participation, by sending an email to the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission (Chairman Takis Nikolopoulos: takisnik@yahoo.com and Secretary Dirk De Ridder: fide_dirkderidder@skynet.be ).The dead line for the registration will be 10 May 2014 and the final list of participants will be published on the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission website on 12 May 2014.
